"Let us raise our children in such a way that they can face any trouble, and not be surprised when difficulties come;
let us bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord…"
St. John Chrysostom, Homily on Ephesians 6:14
WELCOME TO THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR!
August 31 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
I pray that you are all healthy and well.
As the summer winds down, your Sunday school staff has been eagerly gearing up for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
To kick off our new school year, our annual Sunday school Open House will be on Sunday, September 11th immediately following the Divine Liturgy. Parents and students will have the opportunity to meet with their teachers, learn more about the planned curriculum, and have some fellowship time with their fellow classmates while enjoying some lunch.
We are asking that you please register your children as soon as possible to ensure proper grade placements. Whether they are new or returning students, please register your child(ren) by clicking on the link below. This will lead you to a Google form to fill out. By completing the google form link below it will help ensure that we have the most up-to-date information.
In addition, as a reminder, all Sunday school students will attend the Divine Liturgy with their families, listen to the Gospel and Sermon by Father John, and are dismissed to their classes following Holy Communion. The Word of God is most essential in the spiritual education of our children. We cannot simply depend on the limited (weekly) time spent in Sunday school and (only) on the Sunday school staff. The most crucial component in the teaching of our Orthodox Christian Faith begins in the Nave of the church with the Divine Liturgy.
We believe that an effective church school is based on the philosophy of both “Parental and Parish Partnership.” We will remain focused on building an extension of the primary parental responsibility for the spiritual education of our children. As well as, to help mold the lives of our children in the Orthodox Christian Faith by the Orthodox teachings of the Holy Scriptures and Traditions with the consciousness to live a Christ-Centered life through worship, service, and fellowship.
On behalf of Father John and your Sunday school staff, we are excited for this upcoming year!!!
May God grant us all the grace of wisdom, understanding, and patience throughout this new school year.
In Christ,
Rose Fakhoury
Sunday School Director
